A Typically Long Setup for a Brief Complaint

Okay so today is one of my regular workout days, but I had to skip out. I've been having some neck and shoulder problems (nothing crippling, but rather painful) likely stemming from my car accident almost five years ago and being a horribly uncomfortable sleeper. Plus I've been having a ton of burning in my left calf when I run. So I went to get a nice deep-tissue massage this afternoon. It was soooo good! I feel like a million bucks right now. However, the doc told me to not workout tonight in order for my muscles to recover. I hate to, but it still gave me a nice evening to relax on the best night of television of the week. It starts with Lost, followed by Mythbusters, and hey It Takes a Thief ain't too bad either. Anyway....that leads me to my complaint....something I've had to get off my chest for a few months now....

WHOEVER THE HELL IS SUBSCRIBING TO THIS JAMSTER CRAP NEEDS TO STOP IT RIGHT NOW!!!! I'm sick of seeing these stupid commercials on every cable channel all night, every night!

I'm talking, of course, about that service that provides ringtones, and wallpaper, and screensavers, and other garbage for cell phones. I am so sick of seeing them. I don't want any bling-bling rims to dance around or 50 Cent to yell at me when my cell phone rings. I hate it. Please, just stop. Who in the hell is so stupid and trivial that they want to have an actual subscription to have this service? Who is seeing these commercials and thinks that it sounds like a great thing to have?? Stop it!!!

After doing a quick Google I've found I'm not the only one that feels this way.

The Suitcase Reopens.....

....now lay off!!!

I know it's been a while since I've posted, and I'm sorry, but I haven't really had much to discuss or have been to lazy. After much persuasion from Mr. O'Donnell, I figure I'll reopen the Suitcase for my, like, 3 fans.

Actually right now I don't have much to talk about so I'll just ramble on until I find something I'd like to discuss. I say this while I watch all my tournament teams go down in flames and listen to Tim Booth's "Bone." This is the first solo album by Tim since the demise of James (one of my favorite bands ever). I didn't hold out much hope for it, but I'm happy to say I was very wrong. I was very worried that it was going to be a little to party-ish Brit pop scum, and it is at times, but all-in-all it's an above average solo debut.

I was at lunch today trying to think about any upcoming releases that will get me all excited. I compiled this list:

April 5-Magnolia Electric Co. "What Comes After the Blues"
April 26-Eels "Blinking Lights and Other Revelations"
April 26-Mountain Goats "The Sunset Tree"
May 10-Spoon "Gimme Fiction"
May 24-Maria Taylor "11:11"
June 6-Coldplay "X&Y"

I guess I'm anticipating the new Spoon most, but I'm pretty excited about all of them. Coldplay is always great. The new Eels is two discs of new stuff, plus features Tom Waits. Plus the first solo album by Maria Taylor should be interesting. The title alone is enough to get me & Hedges excited (sorry, inside joke about 11:11, it used to be an obsession of ours....Google it if you're interested, it's pretty weird). The Flaming Lips also should have a new one coming out this year, but a release date hasn't been set. I also read today that they're working on a 5.1 surround sound version of "The Soft Bulletin," which should be awesome, and their documentary will be on DVD May 17. Hey if anybody has $125 I can have, I'd love to get this book. I can handle the shipping. Does anybody know of any other releases I should be looking forward to?

Tuesday is payday and I want to shop. I was so backed up with bills on this last check that I could hardly get anything for myself. But I'm all caught up now and I've got a nice little list of new stuff I want to get. I never did get around to getting "Aw C'Mon" & "No, You C'Mon" by Lambchop. I also just pulled out "One Jug of Wine, Two Vessels" last week and realized two things:
1. I love it.
2. I never did get around to getting either Neva Dinova album.
Also has anybody picked up "Superwolf" by Bonnie Prince Billy & Matt Sweeney yet? Is it good? I'm pretty backed up in my Will Oldham and need to get back on him. Maybe I'll just get a new shirt. Anybody like this one? I'm really into french cuffs right now.

Hey don't forget that the new Wilco EP is ready for download. I got mine. It's great. I've got enough Wilco bootlegs to forget about the live tracks, but it's great to finally have the studio version of "Kicking Television." Also I love "Panthers." What an awesome song. I'd heard of it plenty of times, but never actually got to hear it.

Anybody been to any good shows lately? I haven't been to one since Jay Farrar last October. However in April I'll be seeing Magnolia Electric Co. and Iron & Wine within a couple of days of each other in Columbia. That should be really cool. I haven't seen either before.

Well I don't have much else for you. I'm spent. Plus Tim Booth is done. And my left leg is asleep from Huxley laying on it. I'll be posting more soon. I promise this time. Tell yer friends and family.
