Sunshine

Our last weekends in Virginia Beach were oh so very nice. Last weekend, Jonathan and his fiancé Sophia were in town for a weekend of fun. We ate too much and drank too much and slept too much and got way too much sun. We spent most of Saturday at Chick’s Beach. It was actually my first time swimming in Virginia Beach . We moved here in October… can’t really spend much time in the water throughout the winter. At least last Saturday it got hot... really freaking hot. Like 100 degrees hot. The temperature hasn’t gone down since. The water was still a little chilly since it hadn’t had time to cook.

This weekend Molly and I spent way more time in the blazing heat. Saturday we went to the Virginia Zoo for the first time. It reminded me of when I was a kid and would go to the St. Louis Zoo. It was always ridiculously hot and all the animals would be sleeping in the shade. It was the same here. Everybody was being lazy, but I don’t blame them. We did see a near fight with an ostrich and giraffe, which was pretty awesome.

Sunday we said, screw it, let’s go back to the beach. This time the water was perfect, but the sand was hot enough to boil our feet. I’m pretty amazed though that in all of this sunshine I got over the last two weeks, my pale skin never got burned. If I ever would spend that much time in the sun at any other point in my life, I would finish the day redder than a radish. Not this time. The only problem with all of this fun stuff we did, I forgot my camera everywhere we went.

Oh it was all nice and relaxing. We’ve been packing here and there throughout. This is going to be a very busy week. Wednesday is my last day of work, and Thursday and Friday are moving days. Please, just please let the weather cool off a bit by the end of the week.
